Hi Suzy,
Sorry I've not got back to you sooner you but I've been on holiday and have only just picked up your message. Very little is known about Dot Levitt, but I'm doing a programme with the BBC this Friday about women motorists, featuring Dot Levitt, so I'm hoping that more information may emerge as a result. I've also included a short biography of Dot Levitt in my book Sussex Women, which was publsihed by Snake River Press a couple of weeks ago and might be of interest. You can get it in most Sussex bookshops. She seems to have come from the West County, was a 'works driver' for Selwyn Francis Edge, and wrote a marvellous book called The Woman and the Car, published 1909. I hope this is helpful. Ann

Dear Ann,
Hello, I am doing some research surrounding Women in Motor Racing and would very much like to know more about Dorothy Devitt. Especially her time at Bexhill, I cannot find any other reference to it so far. Please contact me as soon as you have a moment.

Hi Ann

Glad I found your message. I have just started researching Dorothy Levitt. Have you had much success with any other details - especially life dates?

I am researching into Dot Levitt, a pioneering woman racing driver, who won second prize in Bexhill motor races in 1907. She also wrote a book the Woman and the Car.

I am particularly interested in knowing her life dates, and any personal details that may be available.
