<description>This course is certificated by Medi Aid (UK) Ltd who is approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to provide this training.
Course Aims and Objectives: For students to be able to fulfil the role of a First Aider as required by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The student should be able to look after the first aid arrangements within the workplace/area, activate the Emergency Services and administer basic Emergency First Aid. This course is open to all those who hold a current First aid at Work Certificate.
Course contact time:
This course has a minimum of 12 hours guided teaching time as required by the HSE. This time does not include breaks. If the full course contact time is not completed we may not be able to issue a Requalification  First Aid at Work Certificate. 

Syllabus:
Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
the importance of preventing cross infection;
the need for recording incidents and actions;
use of available equipment;
Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and
effectively in an emergency;
- administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
- administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
- administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
- administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
- administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
- provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and
bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
recognising the presence of major illness and applying general first aid principles in its management.
In addition, candidates should be able to demonstrate the correct first-aid management of:
soft tissue injuries;
injuries to bones including suspected spinal injuries;
chest injuries;
burns and scalds;
eye injuries including how to irrigate an eye;
